DESCRIPTION Up for auction is a very dear friend. This is a 2001 Jackson Soloist SL-3 model that is the BEST soloist I have ever played bar none! I have owned and played many USA models, but this one is just exceptional... (or maybe I just got lucky!). This one is Japanese, not Korean, Chinese, Indonesian or wherever the newest factory is now. The instruments that are made in that facility not only have outstanding workmanship, but top grade materials not often found on import guitars. It features a Mahogany body and deep set neck, premium flamed maple top w/ matching headstock, 24 fret ebony fingerboard w/ sharkfin inlays, chrome hardware, Jackson Floyd Rose Tremolo system w/ bar, and genuine Seymour Duncan pickups(SH-4 JB bridge, and 2 hot rails-mid and neck). For some reason in photos the finish tends to overstate the cherry burst edges. in the flesh, it is actually very subtle and is more of a yellow amber color. I over-baby my guitars, so despite all the hours of use it is in excellent and clean condition. Aside from some fairly mild rashing on the back, it is flawless!! No dings, dents, scratches, fading, or tarnishing anywhere to be found. It looks brand new everywhere except for the center back. The original hardshell case (included) is also extra clean, and fully functional.TONE AND PLAYABILITY If this guitar sells, I am sure to regret it. I have had more compliments on the tone of this guitar from sound men, studio engineers, and fellow musicians than any other guitar I own... And I have quite a few! (PRS', Gibson's, Fender's, Ibanez', Jackson's, etc.). It just has the perfect balance of cut through bite and warm sustain that is a rare find in any guitar. I can't say enough how great it really sounds, it simply breeds inspiration. The playability is as good as they get! Typical of Jackson's, It has a ultra-smooth comfortable neck carve, super easy low action free from any buzz with a perfect compound radius. I have a pretty light touch, so there is no sign of fret wear at all. It just has that effortless feel from top to bottom. I have not only been very happy with it, but also blown away by the sheer overall quality! Don't get me wrong, it's not like this was some cheap, intermediate model or anything, it listed new for about $1,400.00 w/case!! But I have paid a LOT more for many guitars that don't even compare. It's a full blown BEAST.
     "Oh yeah, If it's sooo great then why would you part with it"?? Believe me, this has not been an easy decision! I will probably kick myself for years to come and require extensive therapy to recover from. Call me crazy, but I took a chance and ordered a Carvin in late '08, and I am a total convert now!! I have never owned anything so perfect for me, and I am selling off some really valuable and amazing stuff to get a couple more. My PRS artist and custom shop Les Paul have been hiding in their cases since I got it. I'ts that simple, I don't know if I'll ever play anything else again...
